Listen Up: Jimmy Ate San Francisco

March 8, 2009

Apologies for the lack of recent posts – life has been crazy! Speaking of crazy, last Wednesday Katie and I attended an awesome img_2157concert with one of my fave bands, Jimmy Eat World. This was my first time seeing Jimmy and they did not disappoint! What’s even better is Katie gave me the tickets as a Christmas present, so I only had to splurge on the $11 beers (don’t get me started on the price!)

The Fillmore was packed with great fans ready to sing along and celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their album, Clarity. We were able to see a little of the opening band, Reuben’s Accomplice – but to be honest we were busy making friends with the people next to us while we waited for Jimmy.

The place was packed and while I was a little disappointed they didn’t play songs from their most recent album, Chase This Light they sure made up for it. Some of the definite highlighimg_2131t’s were “Goodbye Sky Harbor,” “Just Watch the Fireworks” and “Lucky Denver Mint.” You can listen to a live version of “Clarity” here:

img_2156The Fillmore is a great venue and we were able to stand up close and personal. Most of you would probably recognize their single “Sweetness” which ended the night. If you listen here to a live version here: (not the SF concert sadly, but you can tell how in LOVE the crowd is with Jimmy by the loudness of  the “Woah -oh oh’s)

Great venue, great people and great fun. Next up on the concert circut –  Jack’s Mannequin and Matt Nathanson!
